Glaucoma Public-Private Partnership Programme

Eligibility

Patients who have received glaucoma care at Hospital Authority specialist outpatient clinics for at least 12 months and be clinically stable;
Be enrolled in the Electronic Health Record Sharing System (eHRSS); and
Be formally invited by the Hospital Authority Glaucoma Public-Private Partnership Programme Office.

The Hospital Authority will issue invitation letters to eligible patients in phases, and no application is required. Invited patients may choose whether to join the Programme on a voluntary basis and select a participating private ophthalmologist for their care.

Programme Details

Each eligible patient may receive up to four subsidised consultations per year, including specified glaucoma medications. In addition, investigation services comprising up to one visual field (VF) test and one optical coherence tomography (OCT) scan annually will be provided by a private ophthalmologist.

Programme Fees

Under the Programme, participating patients are only required to pay fees equivalent to those charged for Hospital Authority specialist outpatient services. Currently, the fees are $80 per consultation, $15 per drug item, and $80 per investigation service.

Recipients of Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA), holders of full or partial medical fee waiver certificates, or Old Age Living Allowance recipients aged 75 or above will enjoy the same fee waiver arrangements as for Hospital Authority services.

Subject to mutual agreement, patients may opt to receive additional services and treatments provided by private ophthalmologists at their own expense or by using Elderly Health Care Vouchers.
